Homemade Lemon Scented Hair Spray

September 26, 2011

Every time I would use conventional hairspray, my husband would quickly hold his breath and run from the bathroom. I would also hold my breath while using hairspray and quickly leave the area to get some fresh air. We needed to find a more natural product but wanted to be frugal about it too. Maybe some of you are looking for natural hair products that are cheap and effective! Well, we have a good answer for you. Homemade hairspray is a actually very pleasant and works well with any hair type. My husband uses it too! We have both been using it for months now and are very pleased! We tossed out all our chemical laden hair products and really simplified the number of products that clutter up the bathroom.

If you are looking for a natural and chemical-free hair spray, try this simple and easy recipe for homemade hair spray. Pick up a stainless steel, glass or plastic bottle with a spray cap and you’re ready to get started!

Hair Spray Recipe:
2-4 lemons, sliced
1 tablespoons vodka, or rum
Water
Spray bottle

Directions:
Place lemon slices in a saucepan. Cover with water (about 4 cups). Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Pour mixture through a strainer into a glass jar or heat resistant bowl. Allow to cool.

Pour liquid into the spray bottle and add vodka. Save extra hairspray in a container with a tight fitting lid to refill your spray bottle when needed.
