If you’re looking for a smoothie to satisfy the chocolate lover in you give this delicious beverage a try. It’s packed full of nutrients like almonds, hemp seeds, carob etc. it will curb your hunger for several hours while giving you the good stuff your body needs to maintain a high level of energy.

So, you might be wondering, what’s Carob? Does it even count as chocolate? First, Let’s start with a definition of carob powder. Carob Powder – from the ground seeds and pods of the carob tree; used as a chocolate substitute. So, is it chocolate? Answer: No, it doesn’t count as chocolate according to most experts. Unlike chocolate, carob is naturally sweet, low in fat, high in fiber, has calcium, and no caffeine. Perfect for those who love chocolate and crave the taste but would like a healthier substitute.

Recipe:
1 frozen banana
2 cups cold filtered water
1/4 cup almonds (or 2 tbsp raw almond butter)
1 tbsp maca
1 tbsp hemp seeds
2 tbsp roasted carob powder

Directions:
Combine ingredients in a blender (we use a vitamix), blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Tip: For “fudgesicles”, pour the smoothie into popsicle molds and place in the freezer. Kids love it!
